I forgot my appointment time , even tho I had the appointment a couple months ago, so I called to ask to be”squeezed in” he was overbooked she:said, I asked to please try, she spoke to him directly and he let me come in the afternoon!I was very grateful because I am having a lot of trouble with cataracts and an eye infection! I recently saw Dr. Beckendam this week. I was very pleased the very first time that I saw him. His professionalism and attention to detail impressed me. He genuinely cares about his patients and that was very obvious to me. He took the time to explain everything to me, and I can't tell you how much I appreciated it. I would Recommend him to any of my Friends and family. I have extreme dry eyes. Every other doctor, I went to, they couldn't get my insurance to cover Restasis. I had cataract surgery about a month ago and having some issues with my left eye. Grateful to get an emergency appointment yesterday. My eyes are a mess I had to drive from Hesperia to rancho Cucamonga as it weren't any appointments available in Apple Valley California. Dr listen very carefully to me as I was explaining my symptoms, and he was reading all the past visit notes which have been several because I've had a lot of issues going on with my eyes. He assured me that my eyes were not infected they were inflamed and he gave me some recommended treatments to continue which I was already using an added a couple of more. He was very reassuring and understood the stress and how frightened I was over my eye condition. I am grateful to have been able to be seen yesterday because my stress level is better today. I wish he had more appointments in Apple Valley available on a regular basis. His staff was wonderful also I had to call back and ask a few questions about the visit to make sure I understood a few things correctly and the person I spoke to was very kind her name was Jocelyn and she was very kind and sweet and reassuring about my questions. Hoping my eye condition will settle down and I will get back to a somewhat normal life again. Thank you again to everyone that was involved in getting me this appointment and also to the doctor for seeing me within 3 hours of calling requesting urgent appointment. I scheduled an emergency appointment for an unexplained vision occurance. The scheduler worked me in to see Dr. Bekendam. A complete exam was done with a consultation afterwards. Dr. Bekendam is thorough during his evaluations. He asks relevant questions to get to the root of an issue. He is honest and careful when recommending follow-ups, procedures, etc. He explains his findings slowly and in a way that I can understand. I feel great to be under his care. I also read somewhere that he runs or co-founded an international nonprofit organization to help folks without access get their vision restored. I respect professionals who don't have a chip on their shoulder (are "down-to-earth"), are competent, genuinely caring, and honest. I had an excellent visit at the Pacific Eye Institute. Hesperia. I was greeted at the window of the reception area warmly. The office women were courteous and with a welcoming smile. It was my first time there and I couldn't have been treated better. The exam was perfect and Aaron, who was the pre exam tech, was friendly, courteous and proficient and he certainly knew what he was doing. Dr. Beckendam is a great surgeon. I’m very happy with my cataract surgery. The office staff is kind. Joanna was extremely helpful in the days before my surgery answering all my questions, The anesthesiologist was very nice and really cared about my comfort. The one thing I didn’t care for is that the office is so busy, it felt like I was just a number waiting for surgery. Everyone was in a hurry doing their jobs, as if they’re overbooked and must rush to get on to the next patient. A week after surgery when I visited the Optometrist, she was extremely caring and took the time to answer all my questions. She was in no hurry to push me out, which was great. I had cataract surgery on both eyes. My experience with the staff and the surgeon was excellent. The staff was courteous and knew their job and responsibilities, the prepping for surgery went smoothly and quickly. The actual surgery took approximately 5 to 8 minutes. The directions I received for taking care of my recovery phase was precise. I followed it to the letter and had a full recovery! My sight has increased tremendously, everything is sharp, I can see far in the distance and when I put my reading glasses on now the letters In the book or newspaper jump out at me with clarity! 1st appointment I was delighted with my experience meeting Dr. Beckendam. He explained the results of my eye examinations and necessary treatment. Then went on to ask me questions as to my concerns or fears of undergoing treatment.Turns out my concerns were common to the majority of people as well as the satisfactory results most people enjoy. I appreciated the fact he was seeing me as a whole person and not just a surgical procedure. It mattered that I was comfortable with all the information he was sharing with me. I'm not sure I've ever experienced that level of professionalism before. I must add that I found the entire P.E.I. staff was very kind and attentive as well.
